It’s a shame I can’t be here
Time does what it does
In the future I will be
And in the past where I was
But in the moment I’m nowhere
Static stagnant and still
Holding good hours of bad days
Trying to make the time fill
But I’m too lost in the time frame
And misplaced in the when
And what I will do had done then
Every present runs thin
As thoughts cycle back again
Did it happen
Did it happen to me
Lost in cycles of cycles
Where I was and am me
Swimming sinking or thinking
Sunken thoughts in my sea
Where in drops is the ocean
Threading months through an hour
One in masses of many
Amalgamation brings power
But I’m in pieces and segments
Remnants of a divide
And splintered off, too often tried
To put each segment in line
But time never tenses right
Did it happen
Did it happen to me
When it happens
When it happens you’ll know
When I woke up this morning
Had a talk with myself
All the words were escaping
So hard to find those that help
So I gathered what I could
Tried to pin each one down
Then I pressed on the button
And lost what I could in sound
Made a permanent gesture
Of goodwill toward myself
Something to hold still through time
As things change, and remind
Of all the strangest thoughts I’ve had
